Opopop is obsessed with popcorn perfection. Airline was tasked with analyzing the silicone bowl market and designing one better than the pack. Our final design is worthy of its title; “The Official Bowl of Popcorn.”

Too Hot to HandleThere is always a risk of burned microwave popcorn and most silicone popcorn bowls are awkward and too hot to handle. Opopop saw an opportunity to improve all aspects of the popping experience, including speed, number of kernels popped, and heat management, while also “making popcorn cool again.”
2D Sketching and 3D ValidationSketching on paper lets us work fast and communicate visually with one another as well as with the client. We worked through hundreds of sketches to find the right proportions and style for the bowl. The more promising ideas were then mocked up in 3D for further refinement.
From Design to EngineeringIt took many prototypes to get to the right bowl shape with valuable features for storage and safety. Once the design had been settled we refined the 3D account for manufacturing constraints. We also focused on perfecting the overall build quality. The final bowl looks great, feels well-built and is safe for handling hot popcorn.
